A small machine and welding company in Belleville, Wisconsin has welded many different things in its 46 years of business including fertiliser, jet-fighter parts and even a farmer’s broken glasses!
And it’s at this small business’ back office where the most unusual of criminal activity has taken place…
The old computer server situated in the office has been taken over by Chinese hackers, using it to plan and execute attacks.
A Silicon Valley start-up firm managed to trace the source of attacks to this computer server – and is now monitoring hacker activities and even blocking some attempts.
This start-up is formed by three former analysts from the States’ National Security Agency (NSA) and their specialism is threat intelligence.
Who knew welding and the NSA shared a mutual objective of thwarting hackers’ attempts to sustain an attack!
